Group walks on Exmoor

Exmoor is a great place to organise a walking holiday for a group of people.

Whether you are a group of friends wanting a bit of help exploring the hidden parts of Exmoor or a company wanting a complete week or weekend of guided walks you have come to the right people!

Exmoor has a huge choice of accommodation from bunk barns to youth hostels, guest houses to smart hotels, all of which will have walks from the door, and we can sort out the best of the nearby  areas to get you and your guests well off the beaten track.

Nowhere is very far away on Exmoor, so have a look at our ideas for walks and maybe use these as a springboard for deciding where you would like to go.

Or you could give us a ring on 01643 831759 and have a chat, then we could put some ideas together on email for your walking group to have a look at.

We know where the best pubs are (in our humble opinion!) and who can easily accommodate your size of group, who takes dogs, and book a table for you.

We also know the best picnic spots with room for everyone, all with wonderful views, and the likeliest places to spot our beautiful native Red Deer, Exmoor ponies and other wildlife.

What about a group night walk?

One of our favourite walks is to climb Dunkery Beacon with a group of friends.

Time it right and you can join us for sundowners at the top and then ramble down as the full moon rises over the sea…..unforgettable on a clear night.

We take our telescopes and binoculars to look at the craters and mares of the moon with plenty of time for trying to bag that perfect shot.

Or A Forest Barbecue followed by a walk at dusk to find the elusive Nightjar

From June to August we can offer a completely unique experience.

Join us for a home cooked barbecue in the forest with lamb from our Exmoor smallholding and homemade desserts.

As dusk falls we venture out to a clearing where the throbbing call of the migratory nightjar can be heard and felt. We often see deer and bats on the walk back to the woods….a wonderful, quintessentially English experience.

Safety is our number one priority…..along with everyone having a great time!

Being retired vets, we are pretty well placed to look after our walking groups, and always carry a first aid kit, support bandages and a fluorescent vest.

We can divide into 2 groups if necessary, to allow a slower and a faster paced group, and meet up for lunch.

If you are travelling from abroad we can usually sort out spare equipment for you, although you will need your own good sturdy walking shoes or boots. Let us know what you need in advance and we do our best to source it.

We have both completed the mountain and moorland outdoor leaders course, which  included a weekend wild camping on Dartmoor  with full packs and pretty rufty tufty terrain. Excellent tuition means that we are happy with whatever Exmoor throws at us, even navigating  when the mist descends unexpectedly.

We came away with a better appreciation of just what Exmoor has to offer, with its wildness and remote moorland being freckled with the odd pub or tea shop just when you really need one.

All of our walks are well researched and risk assessed and we walk all of them regularly with our pooch so you can relax and enjoy the scenery without a worry in the world!
