The Exford Dark Skies Discovery Hub
Join us for a set menu home cooked supper to set you up ready for a splendid evening’s stargazing in the centre of Exmoor’s Dark Skies Area. A warming 3 course dinner in the winter or Bruce’s special barbecue in the summer.
Enjoy dessert with the comfort of the woodburner whilst we start the planetarium presentation to guide you around the constellations and deep sky objects above our heads, which will be becoming visible as the sun goes down, timing depends upon the time of year.
We will head outside to use our telescopes and chat about available apps on iphone, android and tablets. You can then join us on an optional walk out into the dark Skies area, this is a nominal extra £5 per person and can be as long or short as you wish, as it is an up and back. We will sit and enjoy the night sky so do bring warm clothes if you are to enjoy the evening to the full.
Tickets are priced at £40 per adult, £20 for under 16years. Booked in advance please, on info@wildaboutexmoor.com
£5 for the optional walk, to pay on the night
We will run every Thursday evening at 7.00pm until the Dark Skies Festival in October, when we start at 6.00pm again, through until the clocks change in the Spring.
This is suitable for all ages and a good option if you are less keen on walking, or the weather is not good!
Also if you are a smaller number or on your own you can join in with others for a sociable evening.
Otherwise please make contact and we can chat about any sort of starry event that you can dream up! We have 3 telescopes, a laser pointer for constellations, binoculars and loads of information about local stargazing. Endless enthusiasm plus the tearooms are fully licenced and happy to cater for your “Do”, from cream teas through barbecues to a “just desserts” evening.
