Dulverton Holiday Cottage, Buchan Cottage.
In 2010 we found the ideal little holiday bolthole. Sitting high above the valley, looking out over the river Barle, it has a wooden deck perched at the top of the garden…..perfect for sundowners as the sun disappears behind Burridge Woods.
From the gate you turn right to hike out for Exmoor, or turn left to sashay out to the restaurants, pubs and shops of Dulverton, a short stroll home at the end of a convivial evening.
Exford Holiday Cottage, Spindrift Barn.
After a long search for our “forever home” we found our farmhouse, half a mile’s walk along the riverbank from Exford village and adjoining the Exe Valley Way.
You can now come and stay in the adjoining barn which is a romantic and luxurious holiday let for two, complete with sauna and your own sunny herb garden to sit out in…fall asleep to the sound of the river and owls calling.
Dulverton Holiday Cottage
2 Bedrooms, 1 x double 1x large twin
Our first holiday cottage is named after John Buchan the author of ” the 39 steps”, as this is the number of steps you have to climb to reach the deck at the top of the garden!
Built in the 1920s, the cottage is full of character and perfectly situated for exploring Dulverton and the wider surrounding Exmoor National Park.
The kitchen is new but cottagey and has a window seat with a view to the rock face behind, a great place to sit and chat to the chef at work!
Our Dulverton Cottage is available to rent all year round and makes for a cosy winter break with its woodburning stove, as well as a welcoming base for exploring Exmoor at any time of year. We are very dog friendly, as is most of Dulverton!
From £55 to £95 per night for the whole cottage, depending on the season.
You can check live availability and book on Air bnb if you prefer.
Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay, the cottage was so well equipped, and you thought of everything. We will be back!
Exford Holiday Cottage
1 Double Bedroom with en suite walk in shower & sauna
The barn is beautifully appointed and full of character, created from finds at local salvage yards and antique shops . The staircase winds around a massive newel post from a wharf in West Sussex which we found in our Exford timber yard, so it has made the same journey as ourselves! The name “Spindrift Barn” was inspired by the connections with the sea and the feeling of inspiration and relaxation that the Barn provides.
Mountain bikes are available to hire at £10.00 per day and toboggans free of charge should the weather allow for it!
There is a woodburner and under floor heating in the lounge with a generous, fully equipped kitchen (washer/drier, dishwasher) at one end. With a walk-in rain forest shower and infra red sauna and a fabulously comfortable double bed you are guaranteed a restful and indulgent break!
From £110 to £130 per night depending on season,
