What a wonderful evening for a practice run for our nightjar evening on Saturday!
After a splendid barbecue, thankyou to the Minehead Market fishmonger and Malcolm Wild!
We set off in twilight, or dimpsy, as the locals call it, for a mystical walk through the woods to our favourite nightjar area. They didn’t disappoint, with a beautiful, haunting soundtrack of churring melody accompanied by tawny owls calling to each other. Jupiter was shining brightly and bats flying low overhead when we spotted a deer silently passing across the track ahead – magical.
